Miguel Allen Lima proposes a carbon market at municipal level

“If we don't leave our living room lights on every night when we're not there, why do we do it in the lighting of our towns and cities?” For Miguel Allen Lima, there has never been so much talk about sustainability, but many of our infrastructures are still inefficient because they have outdated technology, which urgently needs to be replaced. 

According to the CEO of Arquiled, the transition from conventional high pressure sodium vapor street lighting to LED technology reduces energy consumption by more than 70% and brings significant economic and environmental benefits. 

In 2021, the luminaires installed by Arquiled saved 3.6 million euros. In the same year, in Portugal alone, LED luminaires avoided 10 to 20 thousand tons of CO2, the greenhouse gas that contributes the most to global warming. And it is at this point that Miguel Allen Lima leaves the challenge: “isn't it time to encourage our municipalities to market these credits?
