The first public park in the country with fully LED lighting
The Special Protection Zone (Z.E.P.) of the National Palace of Queluz was one of the first to be established in the country (1910), with the aim of ensuring the preservation of the architectural and landscape setting of this historic and unique monumental complex in Portugal.
The Felício Loureiro Urban Park is located within this special zone and covers an area of about 12 hectares of lawns and walking paths. It is an essential space for the quality of life of local residents and for the environmental balance of a city where green areas are scarce.
In this context, the Sintra municipality launched the project to upgrade the public lighting in Felício Loureiro Urban Park in Queluz. The intervention consisted of replacing the existing fixtures with LED technology fixtures, which are more efficient and consume less energy.
Beyond the energy component, the visual aspect was also taken into account. The old deteriorated poles and fixtures were removed. The new fixtures are one meter taller, keep the traditional design of the previous ones, but their upper section has no glass. This allows the street to be better lit and gives a greater sense of safety at night.
